Srinagar: The Reconciliation, Return and Rehabilitation of Migrants has demanded statehood and restoration of special status to Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement.
The organization's chairman Kashmiri pandit leader Satish Mahaldar said: "The loss of statehood is a grievance of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of J&K have suffered over the decades, especially after the advent of terrorism. Statehood should be announced as early as possible".
Mahaldar's statement came ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting on Jammu and Kashmir with leaders from several political parties.

Mahaldar also said statehood must be restored with guaranteed and protected rights to the minorities and disadvantaged communities, preference in locals jobs, educational institutions, industry, protection of land and representation of the minorities in the Assembly.
