Srinagar: A day after the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) announced their participation in the upcoming District Development Council (DDC) polls, the political alliance on Thursday is expected to announce the list of its candidates for the first phase elections.

"I just reached Srinagar. I believe the list of PAGD's candidates for upcoming DDC polls is being prepared and the announcement of the same might happen today," Member Parliament and PAGD chairperson Dr Farooq Abdullah told ETV Bharat on phone.

He said, "Since I have just reached Srinagar, I can't tell you exactly when and how this is going to happen. As soon as it is done, the list will be made public."

National Conference (NC) General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar also asserted that the PAGD would release the list of candidates today.

"The parties under PAGD are not participating in the elections for power but to become the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Sagar said.

Notably, today is the last day for filing nominations for the first phase of elections.
