Srinagar: A National Conference (NC) leader who had allegedly slapped an on-duty police constable at party's Mujahid Manzar office in Pulwama has been arrested on Monday.
"Former MLA Rajpura and district president NC Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Mir have been arrested for manhandling on-duty police constable on Monday," a senior police official said.
He further said, "Yesterday, Mir had an argument with Head Constable Abdul Thani at NC office over some pity issue. Following which Mir slapped Thani who was posted for the security of the NC office."
According to the official, as soon as the complaint filed, prompt action was taken.
"The victim reported the matter to the concerned police station after which Mir was summoned and legal action was taken," the officer said, adding, "Mir was arrested and an FIR (3/2020) under section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 353 ( Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of Indian Penal Code was registered against him."
