Srinagar: Against all odds, a young 20-year-old writer from Kadlabal area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district has made it into the India book of records.
Saraf Ali Bhat has so far had two books published against his name. His first book 'A smile worth a billion poems' was published in 2018 while the second 'Triggered Sorrows' in 2019. Both the books evoked a great response and helped him to earn a big name globally.
"I received the reader's choice award in 2019 at the global level for my book titled 'Triggered Sorrows'. I also got a citation along with prize money of 50 dollars. Following which I got featured in the India book of records," Bhat said.
He says, "there are no proper platforms for talent in Kashmir but we must never lose hope. I don't want people to give up on their dreams. Kashmir is not in that era where writing can be a full-time profession. I need their artistic sense to be taken as a passion, not a profession. After I got appreciation from readers, friends and relatives I got motivated and continued. I got into writers communities from where I got all required help and guidance."
Bhat, an engineering student, was always interested in literature and has been writing regularly on various subjects since he was in class eighth.
