LeT militant associate arrested in South Kashmir's Pampore

An over ground worker of Lashkar Toiba outfit was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police in Pampore. Police also claimed to have seized six vehicles including Tavera, two Alto cars and three bikes which were used in the attacks against security forces from him.

Srinagar(Jammu and Kashmir): Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested a militant associate of Lashkar Toiba (LeT) outfit from south Kashmir's Pampore area, officials said on Saturday.

"An over ground worker (OGW) of LeT has been arrested from Pulwama's Pampore area. He was providing shelter, logistics and other support to the militant outfit and was also involved in the transportation of arms and ammunition of the militants active in Pulwama's Pampore, Khrew and Kakapora area," a senior police officer said.

He further said, "The arrested person has been identified as Haris Shareef Rather, a resident of Zaffron Colony Pampore. Incriminating material has been recovered from his possession."

Meanwhile, police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of Unlawful Activities Act in the Police Station Pampore.

This comes a day after police claimed to have arrested a module of six persons which assisted slain Pakistani militant Saifullah in carrying out four attacks on security forces on Srinagar-Jammu highway this year.

"These suspects were identified and subsequently picked up by police for questioning and during interrogation, they confessed about their involvement in assisting militants in the attacks. They were associates of slain LeT militant Saifullah, a Pakistani militant, who was killed in the Barzulla encounter this week. Saifullah was involved in all the four attacks on security forces on the highway," Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar had said.

The IGP had said that six vehicles including Tavera, two Alto cars and three bikes which were used in the attacks were also seized from the arrested militant associates.
