Pulwama (Jammu-Kashmir): The security forces have apprehended a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Friday, the police said. The militant has been identified as Shamim Sofi, resident of Nikloora, Pulwama.
Taking to Twitter the police said, "Pulwama Police & SFs apprehended one categorised #terrorist affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit LeT namely Shamim Sofi S/O Gh Mohammad Sofi R/O Nikloora. #Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. @JmuKmrPolice."
Meanwhile, the police also recovered incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition from his possession. Earlier, on September 28, a Pakistani terrorist was captured and another killed last evening when the Army stopped an infiltration attempt in Uri along the Line of Control.
This was the first time in recent years that a Pakistani terrorist has been caught while trying to cross into India. Taking advantage of dark night, uneven ground, bad weather and thick undergrowth, LeT attempted to infiltrate six terrorists from the general area of Pakistani post Jabri.
