Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation on Monday launched electric bus service from Jammu Railway Station to Katra.
The buses, equipped with several features such as CCTV cameras, GPS to monitor the movement of the buses, panic button on every seat and emergency door etc., were flagged off by the Advisor to the Governor K Skandan.
Transport Department Special Secretary Amit Sharma said that they have, in the initial phase, launched 20 buses each for Jammu and Srinagar on an experimental basis.
In this regard, Vaishno Devi pilgrims expressed happiness with the initiative taken by the government.
"It's a good step by the government. Now, people going to Vaishno Devi can have a smoother ride," stated a pilgrim.
