Anantnag: Unidentified militants on Friday allegedly shot dead a police constable at Wanpoh area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, officials said.
"At around 6 pm, unidentified militants fired upon a police constable near Shamford School, leaving him severely wounded. He was shifted to a nearby hospital but succumbed on the way," a senior police official said. He further said, "the slain cop has been identified as Bantu Sharma and was presently posted with Railway police." Meanwhile, the police have cordoned off the area and searches have been launched to nab the attackers.
The attack comes three days after three civilians were injured after unidentified militants allegedly hurled a grenade towards a police vehicle at south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
