J-K Sarpanches meet Naqvi, put forward issues

A delegation of sarpanches and other leaders from Jammu and Kashmir met Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and apprised him of the situation there. Naqvi gave them full assurance that their issues will be resolved.

New Delhi: A delegation of sarpanches and other leaders from Jammu and Kashmir met Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi at his residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, and discussed future developmental projects.

The delegation apprised Naqvi of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and put forward their issues, including those of education, health, roads, and Haj.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Naqvi said: "After the removal of special status under Article 370, the road has been cleared to work towards solve issues. There was a big gap in developmental work in Jammu and Kashmir, which remained unnoticed."

"I have seen that the local leaders are full of hope, and it is our responsibility to fulfil their wishes," he added.

A sarpanch, who was part of the delegation, said that the Minority Affairs Minister gave them full assurance that all their woes will be addressed.

Tweeting on the meeting, Naqvi wrote, "Sarpanch and other prominent people thanked PM Shri Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah for scrapping 370 and expressed confidence that the decision will ensure over-all development of the region."

Earlier in August, a six-member Minority Affairs Ministry team led by its secretary went on a two-day visit to the Kashmir Valley to identify the areas to implement centrally-sponsored development projects after the modification of Article 370.
