Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): As the COVID-19 cases continue to show an upward trend, Jammu and Kashmir's Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam on Monday appealed to the people to adhere to the COVID guidelines issued by the administration in the Union Territory.
As Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir and across the world observe fast during Ramadan, the Grand Mufti said, " Wear a mask when praying in mosques and when leaving the house. Pay special attention to social distancing to prevent the spread of the COVID-19."

He also appealed to the people to refrain from leaving their homes unnecessarily during the pandemic. "Leave your homes only in case of any compulsion or emergency so that while going to the markets you not only protect yourself but also your family," he said.
As people in the Valley have suffered a financial setback in the past two years due to lockdown, Nasir-ul-Islam urged the privileged people to help others in the month of Ramadan.
