Srinagar (Jammu Kashmir): Normal life was affected in Srinagar on Wednesday as 'shutdown' was observed after a delegation of foreign envoys arrived in Kashmir earlier today.
Shops in areas around Lal Chowk and other big markets remained shut while only a few vehicles could be seen plying on the roads.
Even though there was no call for a shutdown from any separatist outfit, social media was abuzz with reports of a shutdown in the wake of the foreign delegation's visit.
Earlier today, a group of foreign diplomats arrived in Kashmir to access the ground situation and the development work in the Union Territory.
The foreign envoys are on a 2-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation will visit Jammu on February 18.

According to sources, the delegation that includes about 20 envoys will interact with recently elected DDC members, politicians and social activists.
The delegation is visiting the Union Territory after the first-ever DDC elections were held in December in Jammu and Kashmir peacefully, which also kickstarted mainstream political activities in the region.
This also comes at a time when the Centre restored the 4G internet services in Jammu and Kashmir after about 18 months.
This is the third time a foreign delegation is visiting Jammu and Kashmir since the Centre scrapped the special status of the state granted under Article 370 of the Constitution in August 2019 and bifurcated it into two Union Territories.
In February, 25 foreign diplomats, including those from Germany, Canada, France and Afghanistan, visited Jammu and Kashmir to witness the ground situation in the region.
