Srinagar: Two unidentified terrorists have been killed in an encounter that started between terrorists and security forces at Chingum area in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district in the early hours of Saturday.
The Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, "Encounter has started at Chingam area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow."

The firefight between terrorists and security forces took place after security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
Earlier, on October 7, three terrorists were killed in an encounter at Sagun area in South Kashmir's Shopian district.

The encounter started between terrorists and security forces on October 6 evening.
The firefight took place after security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.
The police made announcements to the holed up terrorists to surrender but they refused to do that.
On October 6, security forces gunned down one terrorist in retaliatory fire after he opened fire on a personal security officer (PSO) of a BJP worker in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district. The BJP worker identified as Gulam Qadir Rather, a resident of Nunar Ganderbal, is safe.
Similarly, on September 27, two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Based on specific information received, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation there.
Earlier to this incident, on September 25, two militants were killed during the gunfight that started on Thursday evening following a cordon and search operation carried out by security forces in Sirhama village of Anantnag district.
