Despite turmoil, four candidates from Jammu Kashmir qualify UPSC

As UPSC declared the results of Civil services exams 2020, four candidates from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir qualified for the exams. The result of UPSC exam was declared on Friday evening, and 761 candidates have been declared qualified out of 2,046 who had appeared in the interview

Despite turmoil, four candidates from Jammu-Kashmir qualify UPSC

Srinagar (Jammu-Kashmir): Despite the prevailing conditions, four candidates from Jammu and Kashmir have cracked Union Public Service Commission exams, the results of which were declared on Saturday night. While two candidates are from the Kashmir valley, two hail from the Jammu division.

Suchiter Sharma, 22, a Science graduate from the Bishnah area of Jammu district has achieved 125th rank. Sharma graduated from GGM Science College in Botany, Zoology and Geology, securing 86% marks in 2020 and appeared in the preliminary exams just five days after his BSc Final exams. Suchiter did his schooling from Army School, Rattnuchak, with 94.8 % marks in 12th. He has been inspired by his cousin Priya Sharma who qualified for IAS in 2014.

Amir Bashir is the second candidate to have qualified UPSC exams with 625th rank. Amir hails from the Mendhar area of Poonch in Jammu province and belongs to the Scheduled Tribe category.

Waseem Ahmad Bhat, a 23-year-old engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, has achieved 225th rank in the UPSC exams. Bhat hails from Bragram village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Waseem did his schooling at a private school Sir Syed Mission Nathiporam and later passed JEE in 2015 to enrol for engineering in NIT. Iqbal Rasool Dar, 23, hails from the Drugmulla area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir. Dar got 611th rank.

Earlier, at least 16 candidates from the Union Territory cracked UPSC in 2020. In 2010, Shah Faesal became the first Kashmiri to top the Indian Civil Services Examination. Following the footsteps, Athar Aamir Khan secured second rank in 2016.
