New Delhi: Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) Rajya Sabha MP Nazir Ahmad Laway on Wednesday said that the centre has further aggravated the situation by withdrawing the special status tag to Jammu and Kashmir.
"For the last 70 years, Jammu and Kashmir was with India. We had a special status that was given to us decades ago. But suddenly it was withdrawn. The government should give a clear picture of the situation in the state," said Laway, in an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat.
Laway said that the real issue for the government will come up when people of the state will start protesting on the streets.
Pointing at the total shutdown of the entire network connectivity in the region, Rajya Sabha MP said: "We told in the Parliament too that the government is putting the state in a danger zone."
Laway also said: "People belonging to all religions live peacefully in the valley but the government has been trying to spread hatred. People from across the border will now take advantage of this situation."
In a mark of protest on August 5, PDP's Rajya Sabha MPs Nazir Ahmad Laway and Mir Mohammad Fayaz protested in Parliament premises against the centre withdrawing J&K’s special status and split the state into two Union Territories.
