Shimla: The dung of horses in the tourist destination Kufri will not be wasted, but now it will be a source of income for the people.
Methane and CNG gas will now be prepared from horse dung. SADA (State Annual Development Agenda) in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science and Technology is going to set up a Waste to Energy plant at this place.
CNG and methane gas will be prepared
After the plant is set up, horse dung will be used in this plant from which methane and CNG gas will be prepared.
At the same time, people will get relief from the dirt and odour of the horse dung in Kufri.
3.30 crores to be spent on Waste to Energy plant
This project was initiated by the department three years ago but it has now been started.
The government will spend Rs 3.30 crores on waste to energy plants. The MoU is signed with a company which has made the plant in Jaipur.
The plant in Jaipur will be established in March.
Helpful for disposal of kitchen waste of hotels
51% methane and 43% of carbon dioxide found in horse dung.
This plant will have a capacity of 2.5 metric ton. 100 cubic meter gas will be made in this plant.
This gas will be supplied to the hotels in Kufri. In this plant, horse dung and kitchen waste of Kufri hotels will be disposed of but also kitchen Waste of Kufri hotels will be executed.
Tender for plant has been made
Deputy Commissioner of Shimla Aditya Negi (DC Aditya Negi) said that horse riding takes place in Kufri.
Due to which there is a lot of horse dung on roads. In view of this, a decision has been taken to set up a waste to energy plant and a tender has also been made for it.
The site has also been selected and work will be started soon. The prefabricated structure will be prepared in which horse dung will be collected.
Tourists enjoy horse riding in Kufri
There are one thousand horses in Kufri. Tourists enjoy horse riding on higher reaches in Kufri.
Horse Union President Shalegram Sharma said that one thousand horses are registered and people do horse riding from morning 8 AM to 4 PM in the evening.
Horse Dung on roads in Kufri
Shalegram Sharma said that State Annual Development Agenda Employees clean the road daily but the roads on higher areas are covered by horse dung.
After the plant is established, horse dung will be taken off on proper time which will lead to cleaner roads.
CNG Helpful for Golf Cart
This CNG made in this plant will be helpful for Golf carts as well. This plant will make the city clean and will also become an income source for people.
The City will become cleaner
There are 1250 horses registered in the tourist place Kufri. Kufri is a favourite place for tourists.
Kufri is known for its beauty and snowfall. Tourists come in large numbers during the winter season.
The tourists use horses to travel to higher reaches of Kufri.
The horse dung thus creates a lot of dirt on the road and there is bad odour all around the city. Through this waste to energy plant, people will get relief from horse dung on roads.
