Organic mushroom production is a new business in Uttarakhand. This work started first in Pauri and Dehradun of Uttarakhand, but after the lockdown, this work is now being adopted by others as well. In the hill districts like Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh, mushroom production is now taking place at many places. This can be a source of a good income as the cost of production is very low. Therefore, to start it, only Rs 15,000 to Rs 20 thousand is needed and some 3000 square feet of space is enough.

The government also believes that there is no employment for youths in the hill districts of Uttarakhand. So, now the young men and women of the state are doing well to expand the small business of mushrooms. All that is required is the government’s support to encourage them from time to time.
