Dharamshala: A bridge over Beas river in Kullu's Akhara Bazar collapsed here on Saturday night as the water level rose rapidly followed by incessant rainfall in the region.
Heavy rains had led to flash floods in different parts of Himachal Pradesh. Cloudbursts and landslides were reported at various places near Dharamsala and Kangra.
Earlier, locals in Sankri village of Uttarkashi were putting their lives in peril, as they are forced to cross the Halara Khad river hereafter the road connecting their village was blocked due to landslides, triggered by heavy rainfall in the area.
The Mandi-Kullu national highway has also been closed for vehicles following heavy rains.
Besides, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted heavy rains at different places in the state.
According to IMD, heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand on Sunday.
