Security agencies on toes in Manali ahead of PM's visit

The Crime Investigation Department (CID), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Special Protection Group (SPG) team have marked and started monitoring the places where the Prime Minister will be appearing when he will visit Himachal to inaugurate the Atal Rohtang pass.

Kullu: Ahead of the October 3 inauguration of Atal Rohtang pass by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several security agencies have been put on alert with the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Special Protection Group (SPG) team reaching Manali on Monday morning.

These security agencies have marked and started monitoring the places where the Prime Minister will be appearing.

The PM's helicopter is scheduled to land at Manali's Sasse Helipad and security agencies have started investigating people living in and around the area.

Although PM's helicopter will land in Sase, the possibilities of it landing in Lahaul's Tandi Bridge, Shutteringi and Sissu Helipad are also being prepared.

The Manali administration has started preparations for a public meeting in Solang. Lahaul Spiti along with Kullu administration and Border Roads Organization is busy in the preparations for the launch of the Atal Tunnel.

On Sunday, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Kullu Deputy Commissioner Richa Verma in Manali where major officers of all departments were present. On the other side of Rohtang Tunnel, in Keylong too preparations are going on under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner KK Saroch.

Deputy Commissioner inspects rally venue

After the meeting, DC Kullu Dr. Richa Verma reached Solang Valley with some officials where she reviewed the preparations for the reception ceremony of the Prime Minister. She also closely inspected the main stage being constructed at Solang Maidan and the separate enclosures of specific guests and spectators.

She also instructed the officials that proper seating facilities should be provided for all the guests and common people participating in the rally. Apart from this, the installation of toilets and other basic facilities should be ensured at the site.

She added that hoardings are also being installed on the main road and in Solang Maidan to welcome the Prime Minister. Apart from this, local people will welcome the Prime Minister in traditional clothes in long queues at three places from Sase to Solang Valley.
