Ambala: Congress General Secretary for UP East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday made a reference to Hindu epic Mahabharata to launch an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a poll rally in Haryana's Ambala, Priyanka compared PM Narendra Modi to Duryodhan, the antagonistic prince from the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
"He (Narendra Modi) is as arrogant as Duryodhan, who tasted defeat because of his ego," she said.
She also hit back at Modi for his remarks on her father Rajiv Gandhi, where he said the former Prime Minister was Bhrashtachari number 1 (corrupt number 1).
"The BJP leaders never in their poll campaigns talk about whether they fulfilled their promise or not. They seek votes in the name of martyrs, or insult the martyr (Rajiv Gandhi) of my family. Duryodhan also had lots of ego and his ego was the reason of his defeat," she added.
At a rally in Uttar Pradesh on May 4, Modi had targeted Rajiv Gandhi, while attacking the Congress president.
"Your father was termed Mr Clean by his courtiers, but his life ended as bhrashtachari no 1, "Modi had said, drawing sharp criticisms from opposition leaders.
The prime minister targeted Rajiv Gandhi on May 6 as well, daring the Congress to fight the elections in the name of the "Bofors-accused".
