Labourers in Haryana start leaving to their homes

Amid spreading rumour of lockdown due to the second wave of COVID pandemic, a large number of labourers have started shifting from Haryana to their native home. The labourers, however, attributed their exodus to pending farm works back home than fearing COVID or possible lockdown.

Ambala: Amid fear of lockdown across the nation due to a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, migrant labourers from Haryana have once again started returning to their native land.

For the past 1 month, migrant labourers of UP and Bihar have been migrating in large numbers following rumours of fresh lockdown due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ETV Bharat took cognizance of rumours to find the exact reason behind the migration and talked to the labourers who revealed the actual reason of their migration.

The farmers said that the rabi crop is ready for harvesting so they have to be at their home and added that "we don't have any fear of lockdown. It is false to say that we are migrating because of fear of lockdown."

The night curfew has been imposed in various cities of states across the nation following the rise of COVID19 cases.

As many as 3,440 fresh cases have been reported on Sunday in Haryana this year, with this the total active cases has risen to 20,981.
