Haryana municipal polls to be held on December 27

Voting for the three municipal corporations as well as by-elections in three municipal committees in Haryana will be held on December 27 and the results will be out on December 30.

Chandigarh: Haryana State Election Commission has announced the schedule for elections in three municipal corporations as well as by-elections in three municipal committees.

The elections are scheduled to be held in Sonepat, Panchkula and Ambala whereas by-elections will be held at Sanpla (Rohtak), Uklana (Hisar) and Dharuheda (Rewari).

Dr Dilip Singh, State Election Commissioner, said that polling in these municipal institutions would be held on December 27 whereas the counting of votes will take place on December 30.

"Nominations will be invited on December 4 while nomination papers will be filed between December 11 and 16. Nomination papers will be scrutinised on December 17, while the last date for withdrawal shall be December 18.

He further said that polling will be held from 8 AM to 4:30 PM taking all measures for social distancing.

"A maximum of 1,000 voters can be present at any polling booth at a time, and every voter's body temperature will be checked before the person is allowed to enter the booth. Masks and gloves will also be provided to voters at the polling booth," he added.
