New Delhi: With the Haryana government's announcement of procuring the millets by November 15 and the promise to accelerate the purchase of millets in the mandis, it can be said that the farmers' struggle in the state has been successful.
The government had announced that the entire production of the farmers would be purchased at an MSP of Rs 2150 per quintal, but when the farmers started reaching the mandis with their produce, the pace was very slow. In Haryana, only 3500 tokens were being given to the farmers daily, after which farmers could sell the crop in the mandi. Due to this, only 100 to 125 farmers were able to come to the mandis daily.
Farmers associated with Jai Kisan movement in Rewari had been protesting for 8 days with the demand that the number of tokens should be increased so that more and more farmers could sell their produce in mandis daily.
Swaraj India's Yogendra Yadav said that under Jai Kisan movement, he campaigned for it and visited 12 mandis in 7 districts and prepared a report. After that, the farmer leader met the Agriculture Minister of Haryana, Jai Prakash Dalal and submitted a report and demanded to increase the token by three times daily to speed up the purchase.

Now the government has accepted this demand of farmers and from Saturday, about 10 thousand farmers will be called to the mandis every day and the purchase of millet will be done at the government rate. The goal is to complete the procurement process from farmers before Diwali.
However, Yogendra Yadav said that farmers are still facing some problems. Many farmers have not received payments yet and they don't know when their number will come after getting the token and when they will be able to go to the market and sell their millet. Apart from this, some limit has also been imposed on the purchase. Talking about these problems, the Jai Kisan movement is said to continue.
However, the path of complete and quick procurement of millet has been cleared, which is good news for farmers. Yogendra Yadav said that he is also constantly in touch with the officials and meeting them and putting the problems of the farmers in front of them.
It is to be noted that most of the opposition to the farm reform laws brought by the Central Government is happening in Haryana after Punjab. In such a situation, the Khattar government has assured full purchase of wheat, paddy, millet etc. on the MSP so that the agitated farmers will be satisfied. Procurement in mandis is also going on continuously. However, farmers are still opposing the Agrarian Reform Act.
On the occasion of Haryana Day on November 1, farmers' organizations have already announced plans to lay siege to the Chief Minister's residence by organizing a massive protest across the state. Obviously, the government will definitely try to pacify the wrath of the farmers by continuing to purchase in the mandis.
