Chandigarh: The Central government claimed that recently passed farm Acts are historic and revolutionary step taken in the interest of farmers that aims at doubling their income. The BJP claims that this law will bring good days for the farmers...But the situation in Haryana remains the same.
Farmers are not being able to sell their crops in the market. That is why farmers blocked the roads outside mandis (grain and agricultural produce market) when paddy was not purchased in different parts of Haryana.
Farmers jammed the Ambala-Hisar National Highway
When the paddy procurement at Mandis in Ambala district did not begin, the farmers blocked the entire Ambala-Hisar National Highway.
While talking to ETV Bharat, farmers expressed their anger and malediction over the non-commencement of paddy procurement.
They said that even after the announcement, not even a single grain of paddy has been purchased yet.
During this, the farmers also took a dig at Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala and said that where is Dushyant Chautala now, who was boasting about big policies.
Farmers clearly stated that till the government does not start procuring paddy from them, their picketing will continue in Ambala.
Mandi gates were locked in Panchkula
Troubled by the non-commencement of paddy procurement, farmers blocked the grain markets of Barwala and Raipur Rani of Panchkula district and locked the gates.
The farmers alleged that they have been sitting in the grain market for several days now with all their paddy but their paddy has not been purchased yet.
Karnal based Agencies halted the buying stating moisture issue
In Karnal, the farmers opened a front against the procurement agencies, which were creating inroads in procurement, arguing of moisture in the paddy produce brought by the farmers.
The farmers sat on a dharna outside the office of the Market Committee and raised slogans against the government.
During this, farmers present there said that there are huge piles of paddy in the grain market of Assandh, but due to the ongoing deadlock between the farmers and the government, paddy is not being procured.
The procurement agencies are adamant on purchasing the paddy with 17 per cent moisture only, while farmers are also demanding for purchase in whole, of the paddy with 24 to 25 per cent moisture.
The reason stated by the farmers is that if there would be no moisture in the paddy, then it will fall at the field itself during the harvesting time.
Farmers locked the Mandi Gates in Panipat
Farmers in the grain market of Panipat locked the Mandi Gates. Farmers allege that they have been lying in the mandi for 10-10 days now, but there has been no purchase of their paddy produce.
What should farmers do in such a situation? At the same time, the adversaries of the granary say that the government has not yet resolved the PR paddy issue and no purchasers have arrived yet.
They said that the government has yet not even told us that under which conditions the paddy would be procured.
What will the government’s cut from our share? Last time, the government had deducted the wages of our labourers, also deducted the amount for moisture and charged interest.
They said that unless the government sends money to our account, then only will we be able to solve the PR paddy issue.
For this, the government will have to give factual and written approval.
Paddy procurement process in Haryana
First, the farmer has to register in the ‘Meri Phasal Portal’ (my crop portal).
Then the farmer is sent a message from the market that on which day he has to come to the market with his paddy.
After this, the farmer is issued a gate pass. They can also download it from the farmer’s portal.
Notably, farmers are invited to the mandi in accordance with the availability of vacant space in the market.
