Bhiwani (Haryana): In an alleged case of medical negligence, doctors at Bhansi Lal Civil hospital here wrongly operated upon the left leg of an elderly woman instead of the injured right leg.
According to the family, Bhateri Devi had broken her leg after she fell while working at home following which her family brought her to the hospital.
While the woman underwent surgery on her left leg, the family members of the elderly woman alleged that her right leg bone was broken.
The family also alleged that Bhateri Devi was operated on twice and they did not incur any expense during the operation for the second time.
Family members alleged that she underwent surgery about a week ago on her left leg, while his right leg was broken, but now the right leg was operated by the doctors, which did not cost them anything.
However, the family has accused the doctors of misbehaving with the patient and are demanding justice.
Bhiwani's CMO, Dr. Sapna Gehlawat said that a committee has been formed in this matter under the Principal Medical officer(PMO) Dr. Raghubir Shandilya, who will investigate the matter.
If found guilty action will be taken against the doctor who performed the operation. However, he said that according to the doctor who performed the operation, the elderly woman had a fracture in both her legs.
