Chandigarh doctor creates 'Corona' comic to sensitise kids about hygiene

Dr Ravindra Khewaal from PGI Chandigarh has created a comic book 'Bacche, Vayu aur Corona' which aims to sensitise kids about precautionary measures against COVID-19. The comic is now being translated into multiple foreign languages as well.

Chandigarh: While both the Centre and state governments have been constantly trying to sensitise the general public about cleanliness and personal hygiene in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a doctor in Chandigarh has found a novel way to reach out to children as well.

Although it is tough to grab the attention of children towards subjects like these, Dr Ravindra Khewaal from PGI Chandigarh decided to get the message through to kids through the medium of a comic book he created - 'Bachhe, Vayu aur Corona'.

Khewaal created the comic book which explains precautionary measures to take against coronavirus through cartoon characters. The comic is written in simple language and aims to get the message of cleanliness and personal hygiene to its young readers so that they can adopt the habits easily.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Khewaal explained that the comic's protagonist, 'Vayu', informs kids about COVID-19, and clears all doubts and fears regarding the pandemic.

Khewaal said that to ensure the widest coverage of his comic, Union Ministries uploaded his comic on their sites. Further, PGI Chandigarh, Punjab University, and CBSE too have uploaded his comic on their respective websites, from where they can be downloaded easily.

He further informed that now, his comic is being translated into regional languages in America, Malaysia, Myanmar, Spain among other countries, so that the children in these countries too can be made aware and playfully learn about COVID-19 and precautionary measures to take.
