Valsad: As heavy rains continue to lash several parts of South Gujarat, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), dispatched to Valsad district's Vapi to carry out relief and rescue operations, rescued 15 people from Salvav village on Sunday evening.

The region received nearly 46 mm of rain prompting the officials to undertake rescue measures to those trapped in the floods.

The team was seen carrying people away from knee-deep floodwaters to safer locations, along with some of the belongings of the residents.
According to Flood Control Cell, 46 mm of rain has been recorded in Vapi on Sunday evening, the heaviest spell of rain in the district.

Amid heavy monsoon rain in the district, many tracks and bridges have submerged throwing normal life out of gear.

Several parts in the district have recorded heavy rainfall, Umergam received 40 inches of rainfall, while Kaprada in the same district received 37 mm rainfall and Dharanpur received 32 inches.
