Ahmedabad: The descendants of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel boarded Jan Shatabdi Express to travel from Karamsad to Kevadia in Gujarat after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off eight trains connecting different parts of the country to Kevadia.
According to reports, as many as eight descendants of Patel took the journey to visit the Statue of Unity. They include Bhupendra Patel, Atul Patel, Ushaben Patel, Rakesh Patel, Anjali Patel, Jayesh Patel, Sameer Patel and Himanshu Patel.
Speaking on this occasion, Atul Patel, great-grandson of Sardar Patel, termed it as historic and thanked Modi-led central government.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi said these trains will help boost tourism in the tribal region and increase connectivity to the world's tallest statue, the Statue of Unity.
