Locals protest against poor road conditions in Gujarat's Anand

Residents of Hadgood village in Gujarat's Anand district staged a protest against poor road conditions in the area. The road was constructed from the 14th Finance Commission aid and is now in a bad condition.

Anand: In an unusual attempt to protest against corruptions, residents of Hadgood village in Gujarat's Anand district staged a protest to 'condole' the poor road conditions in the area.

They termed the protest as a 'condolence meeting over the death of road' and lit candles on both sides of the road to show their anger. They also held a prayer so that the 'soul of the road may rest in peace' and wrote ‘RIP Our Beloved Road'.

The newly constructed RCC road starts from Hadgood village post office and ends at Bhathiji Temple.

The road was constructed from the 14th Finance Commission aid and is now in a bad condition having multiple cracks and potholes resulting to the inconvenience to the people.

People have repeatedly filed complaints with the higher authorities in Taluka panchayat about poor road conditions alleging mismanagement and corruption at Hadgood panchayat but no action has been taken yet.

Launching the protest, the residents have demanded re-construction of the road failing to which they will continue their stir.
