Ahmedabad (Gujarat): Expressing its concerned over the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Surat, the Gujarat High Court on Wednesday said that it was painful to see people becoming careless about the pandemic.
A high court bench headed by Chief Justice Vikram Nath commented that if a person wants to die then how can the administration save him.

The remarks came while hearing a PIL seeking a response from the Gujarat government regarding measures taken to control COVID-19 spread in Surat city.
Meanwhile, the state government has filed its reply before the court informing that people of Surat were not following social distancing and other safety norms even after the government issued health advisories, tightened the security norms as well as started awareness programmes.
Justice Vikram Nath sought suggestions from the petitioner to control the pandemic but the latter only contended over the state government's taken measures.
Following that the apex body of Gujarat expressed its regret over the careless attitude of the public amid the pandemic as well as it also directed the government to follow its own steps to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.
