Gandhinagar: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary has been declared as National Unity Day by the Centre and Gujarat government based on the possibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Statue of Unity. A meeting of top officials of the Home Department was held on Friday to expedite the process in Gujarat.
According to sources, during the meeting at the Home Department, details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit were discussed. It is expected that the PM will visit the Statue of Unity later this month.
He will go directly to Ahmedabad from Delhi and inaugurate the seaplane service from Ahmedabad Airport to Sabarmati Riverfront. From there he is expected to visit the Statue of Unity at Kevadia Colony. Modi's program is in its final stages and the Home Department has already taken steps to prepare a blueprint for security.
It may be mentioned that while important laws like the Home Department's Gunda Act, Land Reform Act and Land Act have been passed in the Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has directed all departments to expedite the implementation of these laws in Gujarat. The status quo is also to be submitted to Gujarat Chief Minister in the coming days.
