Ahmedabad (Gujarat): The Gujarat High Court reportedly rejected the plea filed by the Congress, seeking that the counting of votes for the local body elections be held on the same day.
The Congress had moved the High Court against the State Election Commission's decision to hold counting of votes for the first phase of the local body polls before the voting commences for the second phase.
The local body elections in Gujarat are scheduled to be held in two phases on February 21 and 28.
Elections to six municipal corporations will be held on February 21 and that for municipalities, district panchayats and taluka panchayats on February 28.
As many as 81 municipalities, 31 district panchayats and 231 taluka panchayats will go to polls on February 28.
Results will be declared on February 23 for the first phase and on March 2 for the second phase.
