Surat (Gujarat): Two infants of less than 14 days have died within 72 hours due to coronavirus in two private hospitals while receiving treatment in Surat of Gujarat.
The infant girl who died due to the virus was found to have been corona positive on the very third day after her birth. Her father Rohit Vasava, a resident of Mota Varachha had taken her to Ucchhal taluka of Vyara district after she fell ill but doctors have referred her to the civil hospital in Surat. The infant died after 11 days in the hospital, sending the parents into shock.
The corona phase two pandemic has been having a wide impact over the last several days. It has impacted small children more severely. In the last 30 days, as many as 286 children have been infected with the deadly pandemic.
In a private hospital of Surat, a 30-day-old baby has been fighting for life on Oxygen. The infant was suffering from breathing difficulties and fever and was admitted to the hospital 5 days after the birth.

In another private hospital, a 12-day-old girl was admitted. She was given Remdesivir injection following which her condition has improved. She was admitted to the hospital following a complaint of fever and cough.

Later, In another hospital, twin children were admitted on 21 days of their birth for being affected with the deadly virus. Out of which one died and the other one is on the ventilator. Their mother was corona negative but their grandmother was corona positive.

The HOD of paediatrics at the New Civil Hospital of Surat, Dr Vijay Shah said, "looking at the spread of coronavirus infection among small children, four ventilators have been kept aside for children as a precautionary step."
