Surat: You may have seen precious diamonds adorning jewelery till now. But have you ever heard that diamonds also cleanse the heart? The diamonds of Surat used to be for world famous jewelery till now. But the diamonds of Surat are being used to remove the blockage of the heart. In people who have heart attack due to a clot of calcium in the heart vessel, the vessel is cleaned using a diamond studded rotablator machine. Just like diamonds are embedded in jewelery, diamonds are embedded in the front of the machine which clears the blocked vessel.

Surat diamonds are not only useful for jewelery, now these true diamonds have also become a boon for removing blockage in heart. Heart Specialists from Surat are using diamond to remove the blockage in the heart. Heart Specialist from Surat Dr Atul Abhayankar grinds real diamonds on a drill machine like a jeweler. This drill machine goes directly to the patient's heart. It goes to the blood vessel where the calcium clot is deposited. It is not possible to remove the blockage through normal procedure. Four out of 100 who suffer heart attack have calcium clots deposited in the blood vessel. Diamond studded rotablator machine system is used to remove this calcium deposit.
Chance of balloon getting blown
In case of excessive deposit of calcium, a balloon is inserted through angioplasty. However, there is a possibility of the balloon blowing out or rupture the vessel if the calcium deposit has hardened or extra pressure is applied. In such a case, rotablator machine is used. This was successfully used in the case of Surat’s fruit merchant Azam Kelawala to remove the blockage.

Eminent cardiologist of Gujarat Dr Atul Abhyankar told ETV Bharat that diamond is the hardest rock in the world and therefore it is used to remove the rock-like calcium deposit in the blood vessels of the heart. The rotablator machine head is fitted with a diamond to remove the calcium deposit.
The use of pure diamond to remove blockage costs around Rs 50,000
It is a common knowledge that nine out of ten rough diamonds in the world are polished in Surat. But no one knows that the same diamond can be used to remove the blockage in the heart. The machine used to remove the blockage is diamond studded and is of the state of the art machine. A medical team from Iran had visited Surat to see how this machine works. But, nobody knew that Surat diamonds are used to clean the blood vessel. Only an additional expenditure of Rs 50,000 is required to use this technique to remove the blockage.
The rotablator machine rotates 1.80 lakh times in a minute which is much higher than the speed of a drill machine. A 500-volt rotablator machine revolves at the speed of 4000 to 5000 per minute.
He said that when the machine is used for the removal of blockage in the heart, Rotablator machine revolves at 1.60 to 1.80 lakh per minute. The machine fragments the calcium deposit into less than 5 microns so that they flush out naturally without causing any harm.
