Junagadh (Gujarat): A pair of Asiatic lion and lioness from Sakkarbaug Zoo, situated in Junagadh of Gujarat, were sent to the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, largest of its kind in the whole North East region, under an animal exchange programme.
RFO Junagadh, Suresh Bariaya today said that the Junagadh zoo would receive a pair of bears from Assam in exchange.
He further said that the pair of lion and lioness from here were taken to Okha from where they were sent to Assam in a special rail coach through rail route.
The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden is the largest of its kind in the North East region and it is spread across 432 acres. The zoo is located within the Hengrabari Reserve Forest in Guwahati.
