"It's high time that the government do something about it. The Hindu girls are being targeted and the problem should be dealt with by bringing in a strong law against such illegal practices," said one of the protestors.

Talking about other crimes against women such as abduction and rape, they said that there are laws in place for those crimes and a law against people trying to covert someone in the name of marriage should also be brought in.

A Karni Sena member said his organisation was against such crimes and have been demanding strong law against "love jihad".

Last week, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth had said that his government would bring in a law to deal with the problem. His proposal was supported by the Haryana government and it too announced to make a law against the illegal practice.
