New Delhi: The latest social media posts by BJP leader Varun Gandhi and his mother and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi over the Lakhimpur Kheri clash have been raising many an eyebrow and speculations are rife about the duo's continued allegiance to the party. Gandhi through his tweets has requested the parties not to politicise the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

Gandhi in his tweet said, "an attempt to turn #LakhimpurKheri into a Hindu vs Sikh battle is being made. Not only is this an immoral & false narrative, but it is also dangerous to create these fault-lines & reopen wounds that have taken a generation to heal. We must not put petty political gains above national unity."

Shiv Sena through their mouthpiece Saamna has also supported Varun Gandhi's statement and stand on the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. The Shiv Sena has further advised the farmers' organizations to pass a motion of appreciation for Varun Gandhi.

Although the BJP leaders have been asked not to open up on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident and Varun Gandhi's statements, a senior party leader on the condition of anonymity said, "even though he has taken a jibe at some BJP leaders through his tweet, saying that Lakhimpur clash should not be made a Hindu vs Sikh battle, but somewhere through this tweet Varun Gandhi is doing the same."

"Varun Gandhi and his mother Maneka Gandhi are members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the party has always respected them so Varun Gandhi should not make scathing comments going beyond the party line."

According to sources in the party, the saffron party will not let Varun Gandhi to gain sympathy by taking disciplinary action against him.
