Tablighi Jamaat cases to be heard in one court in Bihar

The apex court was hearing a petition challenging the charges pressed against foreign Tablighi Jamaat members in India. In a earlier hearing the court was informed that the Centre has allowed the foreigners to go back to their country if they tender an apology.

New Delhi: The Supreme court on Tuesday was informed that multiple FIRs against the foreign members of Tablighi Jamaat will be consolidated and transferred to one court for trial.

The apex court was hearing a petition challenging the charges pressed against foreign Tablighi Jamaat members in India. In a earlier hearing the court was informed that the Centre has allowed the foreigners to go back to their country if they tender an apology. The top court had ruled that in other cases the trial court should hear and dispose of the matters, further the SC had granted liberty to the petitioners to approach the court.

In Delhi, the FIRs were consolidated and the trial continued in one court. In case of Bihar, SG Tushar Mehta had said that it would not be possible in a state and in Delhi it happened because it was only one city.

However on Tuesday, the court was informed that in Bihar as well it will be consolidated. The matter will be heard again September 3.
