New Delhi: In the wake of violence in the national capital over anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), security has been beefed up with the Para Military forces and the Delhi Police who are on toes to contain the violence.
They also conducted a flag march on Thursday in different parts of northeast Delhi in order to monitor the situation.
ETV Bharat made a visit to the Jafrabad, Bhajanpura, Seelampur, Yamuna Vihar areas which had witnessed the bloody violence between the pro and anti CAA protesters.
As the curfew is still imposed in these areas, people are reluctant to come out from their houses.
In Jafrabad, the traces of violence were seen everywhere as the burnt vehicles, houses, shops, tyres, vandalised materials, glass pieces are still scattered.
While many of the locals are not ready to speak to media, a few responded on the condition of anonymity.
"We have lost two of our vehicles which we had bought recently. No one is coming to hear us. People deployed here to give protection are controlling us. We are unable to roam freely," said a resident of Jafrabad whose house was located just a few meters away from the violence spot.
A Muslim man of the area claimed that there was no issue between Hindus and Muslims until Sunday when the violence broke out.
"We were living without any conflict and we had cordial relationship. But, the riot has shattered our hopes. Our lives are under threat now," he said.
It is to be noted that at least 38 people have been killed in the violence that has engulfed the North-East Delhi since Sunday.
