Review plea in Prashant Bhushan case to be filed soon: Senior advocate Rajiv Dhawan

A review plea challenging Supreme Court's August 14 judgement holding advocate Prashant Bhushan guilty of contempt of court for his two tweets will be filed soon, Senior advocate Rajiv Dhawan said on Monday. However, the matter has been adjourned for hearing on 24 August.

New Delhi: Senior advocate Rajiv Dhawan on Monday informed that he will file a review petition against the August 14 judgement of the apex court holding advocate Prashant Bhushan guilty of contempt of court for his two tweets.

Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal inquired why this matter can't be put to an end. Justice Arun Mishra led bench responded stating that they also wanted to end the matter, but this case has compelled the court to contemplate on some basic questions. "If you want to speak to press, in case you have any grievance against any judge, what should be the process for it? In what circumstances can such allegations be made is also a question" added Justice Mishra.

SC said that they want to address the issue so that no confusion arises in the future.

Further, senior advocate Rajiv Dhawan assured that he along with Shanti Bhushan and Kapil Sibal will assist the court in this matter.

The matter has been adjourned for hearing on August 24.
