Retired police officer serves people during corona crisis

A retired police officer in the national capital has been helping people by distributing food, bottles of hand sanitizer, face masks, PPE kits and clothes to the needy. He functions from a van and has not visited his home for almost a month to avoid any possible infection.

New Delhi: Ever since coronavirus started playing havoc in the world, various organisations and individuals have come out to help and serve the people. In one such case of service to humanity during the unprecedented crisis, Delhi-based retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rishi Dev Rana has been helping people in need by distributing food, face masks and bottles hand sanitizer free of cost.

He has formed a team of young people who would help people in distress by arranging food and other basic items.


"I have been distributing hand sanitizer, masks and food to the needy. We even provide PPE kits to the doctors and medical staffers if need be," he told media here.

Elaborating his way of functioning, the retired police officer said he has not visited his home for almost a month now and has been on the roads to look after needy.


"I sleep and eat in my van," he said, standing inside it.


"People in locality and home would say that since you remain among people most of the time, you should not come here as it prove dangerous for others, so I sleep in the van only," the former police officer said said.
