New Delhi: Punjab Congress leaders along with farmers are holding their ground and protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar braving the cold. While farmers protest marked nearly 22 days at the Delhi-Punjab, Delhi-Haryana border, these leaders have been sitting for more than 10 days at the spot.
Demanding that winter session of Parliament be called, the Member of Parliament (MP)s from Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Chattisgarh sat on a dharna on December 7. On Sunday and Monday, Shashi Tharoor visited Jantar Mantar where Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh Aujla and MLA Kulbir Zira are on hunger strike to support farmers.

Parliament had passed the Farmers' and Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill 2020 and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill 2020, Essential commodities Bill amid protest by opposition parties in Monsoon session.
Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and other state have been protesting near the Delhi borders for the past three weeks, demanding that the Centre's farm laws be repealed.
The central government has held five rounds of talks with the farmer leaders, but no breakthrough has been achieved yet.
