New Delhi: The Noida Police has arrested several farmers who were trying to hold a protest in front of the Noida Sector 6 Authority Office on Wednesday. Aware of the farmers' plan, police had barricaded all roads leading up to the office building. Farmers, who tried to move towards the location despite restrictions, were arrested by the police.
On Wednesday, farmers from 81 villages were set to protest outside the Noida Sector 6 Authority Office regarding their demands. However, after receiving information about the protest, the police surrounded the office building and erected barricades to stop the movement of farmers. But despite the restrictions, many farmers tried to reach the spot and were arrested by the police after a slight altercation between the two parties.
Around 40 farmers were arrested by the police and notices have been sent to another 250 farmers for preparing to join the protest.

The farmers have alleged that the police is trying to suppress the voice of the farmers, claiming that the police is going from village to village threatening the farmers and pressurizing them not to take part in the movement.
Ranvijay Singh, Additional DCP Noida, in an interaction with the press, said that the police had told the farmers not to gather as Section 144 is in force in the district. However, despite the warning, several people had come to the authority office, due to which the police arrested some people.
