PM to virtually join International Yoga Day function

Tomorrow is International Yoga Day, which also coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi forming the government on June 21, 2014. ETV Bharat's Senior Correspondent Anamika Ratna spoke to Tourism and Culture Minister Prahlad Patel to know the programmes scheduled for International Yoga Day.

New Delhi: Tomorrow is the International Yoga Day, which also coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi forming the government on June 21, 2014. The Narendra Modi government has made a lot of efforts to bring international recognition to Yoga. ETV Bharat spoke with the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, Prahlad Singh Patel to know about the programmes scheduled for International Yoga Day.

The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Prahlad Patel said that on International Yoga Day, the Prime Minister will address the yoga practitioners present in 75 heritage places and the entire country. He further added that people participating in the yoga programs will follow the Covid-19 protocol while doing yoga.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will also be present on one such heritage site, apart from this, many special dignitaries will also be present on different heritage sites and participate in virtual yoga with the Prime Minister. Tourism and Culture Minister Prahlad Patel himself will be present at the Red Fort on this occasion in Delhi.

Patel said in a special conversation with ETV Bharat that post-Covid-19 recovery is very important. He added that the event will create awareness among the masses about the importance of yoga and will allow people to stay healthy and away from diseases all year round.

Just a few days ago, all the heritages and buildings of historical importance have been opened for tourists. The Tourism Minister said that people are coming slowly and apparently to visit these heritages. He further added that the government is focusing on reviving domestic tourism first before opening up the country to international tourists.
