Union Minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief over the demise of Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar who died on Sunday. He was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in February last year.

New Delhi: Union Minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief over the demise of Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar who died on Sunday after a year-long battle with cancer. Singh said that the party has suffered a major loss after his death.

While paying tribute to former defence minister Singh said that Parrikar was known for his simplicity. He was a leader with firm determination.

The Home Minister remembered Parrikar always telling him that despite doing well in Delhi as the defence minister, his heart longed to go back to Goa.

Parrikar was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in February last year.

The Union Home ministry has announced national mourning on Monday. It will be 7-day mourning in Goa.

Intro:नई दिल्ली। गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री रहे मनोहर पार्रिकर के बाद देश के गृहमंत्री राजनाथ सिंह दुख जताते हुए कहा कि मनोहर पारिकर के जाने से पार्टी को भारी क्षति हुई है। गृह मंत्री ने कहा कि मैं उनके प्रति श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करता हूं।

राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि मनोहर पार्रिकर सादगी से राजनीति करने वाले व्यक्ति थे, कुछ मूल्यों के प्रति वह जीवन भर पूरी तरह से प्रतिबद्ध रहे। उन्होंने कहा कि वे दृढ़ इच्छाशक्ति वाले नेता थे।

Body:गृह मंत्री ने कहा कि मनोहर पार्रिकर ने अपने अंतिम छणों में ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌भी प्रदेश के पूरी सक्रियता से काम किया। राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा जब मैं उनसे आखिरी समय मिला था तब उत्साह से भरे हुए थे।

Conclusion:राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि जब मनोहर पार्रिकर केंद्रीय मंत्री थे तब वह हमेशा कहते थे कि मैं दिल्ली में पूरी जिम्मेदारी से अच्छा काम कर रहा हूं लेकिन पता नहीं क्यों मेरा मन गोवा में लगा रहता है।
