Multidisciplinary central teams assessing COVID-19 in the states are likely to submit a report to Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health on March 2.

New Delhi: Govt formed multidisciplinary central teams to review the end-to-end preparedness and control of COVID-19 in the states are likely to submit their report on March 2 to Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, according to sources.

The team which consisted of a public health expert, a clinician and a microbiologist was reportedly sent to the seven states where thermal screening at the seven designated airports (New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi) was carried out.

Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, on the other hand, has said that 124 persons have been evacuated from Japan including 119 Indian citizens and five nationals from Sri Lanka, Nepal, South Africa and Peru by an in Air India flight.

These people were quarantined on the Diamond Princess Cruise ship at Yokohama due to Covid 19. In addition, 112 persons have been evacuated from Wuhan in China, the epicentre of Covid 19 outbreak by an Indian Air Force flight.

These include 76 Indian citizens and 36 National from countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldives, South Africa, USA and Madagascar. Dr Harshvardhan said that the evacuees from Japan will be quarantined in the army camp at Maneswar and those from Wuhan shall be housed at the ITBP facility at Chawla.

Dr Harsh Vardhan on Thursday has reviewed the overall health situation across India over coronavirus. Officials said that as many as 4,82,927 passengers have been screened from 4787 flights as of now.

Screening at 21 airports, 12 major seaports, and 65 minor ports and land crossings particularly bordering Nepal is continuously undertaken. Earlier, three people from Kerala were found Coronavirous positive. Though, they were later recovered and discharged.
