Most ventilator-beds occupied in pvt hospitals; many empty in govt facilities

Ventilator-beds in big private Covid facilities of New Delhi are full whereas 63 percent of the same are vacant in government-run and not so big private hospitals. The national capital has witnessed rise in coronavirus patients in the past week.

New Delhi: With the coronavirus cases rising once again in the capital city, almost all ventilator-beds of big private hospitals are full, whereas it's a different story in government-run and small private hospitals as only a small percentage of the machine is being used there.

In almost all big private hospitals, all available ventilators are in service, sources said, adding that contrary to it, only 27 percent of the ventilators are being used in the government-run and small private Covid facilities.

Meanwhile, India recorded its worst single-day spike of 69,652 coronavirus cases, taking its total to 2,841,337. With 980 fatalities reported on Wednesday, the country's death toll has surged to 53,994.
