New Delhi: A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly robbing a person after giving him a lift in his car and withdrawing around Rs 1.5 lakh from his account in Gurgaon, police said on Friday.
The accused has been identified as Arshad Khan, a resident of Gurgaon, they said.
On January 24, one complainant filed a case and stated when he was waiting at Mahipalpur Chowk at NH-8 for a vehicle to reach his office at Gurgaon, a taxi came there and offered him a ride for Gurgaon, Devender Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), said.
He boarded the taxi in which three passengers were already present. When they reached near the Ambiance Mall at NH-8, they forcefully robbed his belongings, including his mobile phone, ATM cards and Rs 1,500, Arya said.
They allegedly thrashed him and took him to Sohna, Haryana and withdrew Rs 1.50 lakh from his accounts from three different ATM cards and kept him with them till 2.00 AM, the DCP said.
Later, they dumped him at an isolated place near the KMP Expressway, he claimed.
During the investigation, police received information regarding the accused persons on Monday.
Police laid a trap at Raipur village and apprehended one accused person, Arya said.
Further investigation is underway and police are searching for the other two accused persons, they said.
