New Delhi: Expelled MP of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Mohua Moitra on Friday voluntarily vacated her 9B Telegraph Lane residence hours before the officials from the Directorate of Estate (DoE) were about to start an eviction drive.
The officials from DoE under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) went with the Delhi police personnel to vacate the house. "We did not use force to evacuate Mohua Moitra from her bungalow. She vacated her house voluntarily," said a DoE official to ETV Bharat on condition of anonymity.
The DoE team, however, demolished an illegal construction being done by Moitra at her bungalow. The illegal construction was the covered area of her park. The DoE officials also recovered a few towels from her bungalow after Moitra vacated her house.
"We will send all the photos along with a report to the Minister sir," the official added. Moitra vacated the house following an unsuccessful attempt to restore her Delhi accommodation from a local court in Delhi.
On Thursday, the expelled MP approached the Delhi High Court against a DoE notice to vacate the house. In fact, ever since Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8 for her alleged "unethical practices", she was served with three notices by DoE to vacate her bungalow.
