Mahagathbandhan to replace Nitish Kumar in Bihar: Akhilesh Singh

'Mahagathbandhan' (grand alliance) would form the next government in Bihar, says Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh. He is also of the view that difference, which may be there in the grand alliance, would be sorted out and efforts are already on in this direction.

New Delhi: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh has said 'Mahagathbandhan' (grand alliance) would replace Nitish Kumar-led government of JD(U) and BJP combine in the upcoming state assembly elections.

Speaking to ETV Bharat here, the Congress MP said minor differences among the constituent
members of the 'Mahagathbandhan' would be resolved easily and the alliance would do well in the polls."

'Mahagathbandhan' is being strengthened. We are in talks with the Left parties to join the alliance," he said, adding that differences among the member parties would be sorted out.

"Leaders shifting from one political party to another is a usual practice and generally happens when elections are due," the Congress leader said while answering a query on RJD leaders joining the JD(U) in Bihar.

"It's not a big deal. It happens when elections are around and it does not matter to political parties," he said.

On former Bihar chief minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha chief Jitan Ram Manjhi’s displeasure over certain things, including RJD insisting on chief ministerial candidate, the Congress leader said: "He is a senior leader and people would listen to him."
