New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University student's union has stated in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the current Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Jagdish Kumar is not working in the interest of the students. Apart from this, the Gujarat riots have also been mentioned in the letter.
The letter comes hours before the inauguration of a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the JNU campus by Modi.
The Union has asked PM to hold the Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar accountable for his failures and mismanagement.
A poster has been released by the Students Union expressing displeasure over several central government policies.
The students' union has called for a protest at the North Gate in the evening. Apart from this, the student union has also written about missing JNU students Najeeb Ahmed, Rohit Vemula and the students coming to the university.
PM Modi will unveil the statue of Swami Vivekananda near the Admin block.
The inauguration is scheduled to be held at 5.30 PM, via video conferencing. Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will also be present.
